Nigeria 6-1 Tahiti (June 17, 2013)
The
Super Eagles represented Africa at the Confederation Cup after winning the 2013
AFCON tournament hosted by South Africa. Stephen Keshi's men made a strong
start to the tournament, winning 6-1 with Nnamdi Oduamadi scoring a hat trick.
Nigeria 5-0 Georgia (June 11, 1994)
This
is another sweet June victory overshadowed by the late Shaibu Amodu, an
indigenous coach. The Super Eagles defeated their European counterparts 5-0 in
this friendly match at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, with Rasheed Yekini and
Samson Siasia each scoring a brace, and Mutiu Adepoju scoring the fifth goal.
Nigeria 6-1 Liberia ( October 13, 2012)
The
Liberian Lone Stars were in the same group as the Super Eagles in the initial
race to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
While
the Eagles' 2-0 home and away wins were considered fantastic, George Weah's
kingsmen fared worse during the 2013 AFCON Qualifiers.
Nigeria 7-1 Burkina Faso (July 27, 1991)
After
being held to a 1-1 draw by Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou during the 1992 AFCON
qualifiers, the Super Eagles returned to Lagos on a mission. The Super Eagles
destroyed the Stallions 7-1 at the National Stadium in Surulere.
Nigeria 7-0 Benin Republic (February 14, 1977)
When
the Nigerian national team played a friendly game against the neighbouring
Benin Republic on Valentine's Day in 1977, they showed no brotherly love.
Tiko
Jelisavcic's Eagles defeated the Squirrels 7-0 in Lagos, with Thompson Usiyen
scoring a hat-trick and Godwin Iwelimo bagging a brace. As the Squirrels
witnessed the seven wonders of Lagos, Samuel Ojebode and Alloysius Atuegbu each
scored a goal.
Nigeria 10-1 Dahomey (November 29, 1959)
This
63-year-old result stood as the country's biggest win ever before Monday's 10-0
demolition of Sao Tome and Principe in Morocco.
In
this game, Onyeali Elkana became the first Nigerian player to score four goals,
a feat no one could match until Yekini did it in 1991 and then Osimhen three
decades later.
